As 2016 comes to an end, I wanted to take the time to reflect on all that has happened in the past year. This year was by far the most emotionally challenging. My senior year, to put it lightly, ruined a lot of my plans. Going into my senior year I was told things like “it’s the easiest” or “you’ll breeze right by”. Let’s be honest, that was far from the truth. As 2016 started and the year progressed the stress piled up. I looked defeated. I was pale, tired, and my eyes were constantly puffy. I’ll admit there were times when I didn’t think things could get much worse and then they did. It was a tiring, never-ending cycle.
Even though there were lots of shitty times that when on in 2016, there were also some pretty amazing things. I graduated high school, I started my blog(finally!!), I reunited with my best friend from 8th grade (Hey Ree!), I learned to love myself, and most importantly I learned that I can do anything I set my mind to do. Even if things do get rough and you feel as though you’ve hit rock bottom, it does get better and it will as long as you keep pushing through. At the end of the day, the hardest truth is that you’re all you’ve got. So get up, do something that makes you happy (no matter how small) and slowly you’ll see things start to change. Life can be hard but that’s what makes it worth it. Every year as I sit down to watch the ball drop on New Year’s Eve, I think about how I’d like to better myself and my life within the next year. Here are some of my New Year’s Resolutions…
- Learn to say “no”
- For me, learning to say “no” is one of my biggest problems. I tend to do things that I don’t want to do just because I’m worried the other person will get mad.
- Don’t settle
- This one is self-explanatory. I think as a young woman it’s difficult to grasp what it is that you deserve. Whether that be in a relationship, friendship, and career. This year I owe it to myself to be my number one priority.
- Be more active on Instagram
- When I first launched the instagram to my blog, I posted about two pictures a day. Soon enough, it was finals week which really is like finals month and I got distracted. I’m going to make it a commitment to shoot more content and post more.
So there you have it, three new goals to work on this year. I hope you all have an amaxing New Year. Here’s to a better 2017 with even more amazing experiences and opportunities. What are your New Year’s plans and resolutions?
